D.B OMO Mursi Lady with Vessel on head
The Mursi women weave their own baskets. In this case the basket is used to carry various sized wooden earlobe discs as well as clay discs which get inserted into the bottom lip. This Mursi woman has not yet had her bottom lip pierced and stretched. Face painting for the Mursi is largely for decorative purposes. Colours and designs may change a few times during the course of a week.
The talented photographer David Ballam captures the richness of the unique landscape, wildlife and objects of Africa in the most extraordinary and breathtaking way.
